SNMP Support On Oracle

At the time of this writing, Oracle SNMP Support is provided for the following products:

Oracle7 Server, release 7.2 (compatible back to 7.0)

three networking services (Network Listener, Oracle MultiProtocol Interchange, Oracle Names, bundled with SQL*Net release 2.2)

On many platforms, an SNMP master agent is provided directly along with the operating system. On those few platforms that do not provide a master agent, Oracle SNMP Support provides one. Installation of Oracle SNMP Support is optional for any individual product (a yes or no prompt during installation). Refer to your operating system-specific installation documentation for details.

Oracle and SNMP Versions

There are two published versions of the SNMP standard, usually called V1 and V2. Oracle SNMP Support can for the most part accommodate either version. The MIBs are stored in V2 format, but are easily converted to V1. The agents are stored in V1 format. Some V2 features are not supported. Future versions of Oracle SNMP Support will provide V2 agents.
